Registration for the 2020-2021 School Year!

Students must be 4 years old on or before September 15, 2020.

Kuemper collaborates with Carroll Community School District (CCSD) for the state funded four-year-old preschool program. When registering for preschool, families have the option to choose Kuemper or Carroll for their child's preschool site.

Registration Checklist (see below for more information on each)
- Fill out Interest Survey
- Attend the Discover Kuemper Preschool Night on February 4, 2020
- Submit required paperwork
- Officially register online

Interest Survey
CCSD released the preschool "Interest Survey" for the 2020-2021 school year on December 13, 2019. This form does not mean your child is registered for preschool; however, it needs to be completed.  Click here to fill out the survey.

Discover Kuemper Preschool Night
Tuesday, February 4th,  6:00pm,  Kuemper High School Gymnasium
This evening is for parents and their upcoming preschooler and provides an opportunity for families to meet teachers, see classrooms, and be introduced to preschool curriculum. CCSD will also have a preschool night. Please contact CCSD for information on their night. There is no commitment necessary at this time.

Submit Required Paperwork
Parents are asked to bring in their child's birth certificate, a copy of their child's immunization form, a copy of their most recent physical, and a completed Home Language Survey (forms also available at the school). This paperwork can be turned into Joan Halbur, elementary secretary, or submitted at Discover Kuemper Preschool Night.

Officially Register Online
This spring, CCSD will ask families to officially register their child online. This ensures the preschooler's information is submitted correctly.  From this process, class rosters are made. Parents who filled out the "interest survey" will be notified when official registration opens.

General Information

Preschool is Monday through Friday throughout the school year and runs in half-day sessions. There are morning (8:00am-11:00am) and afternoon sessions (12:00pm-3:00pm). There are some Wednesdays in which there is no preschool during teacher development sessions. See school calendar for these dates.

Morning and afternoon busing is provided on the Carroll Community and Kuemper bus routes. Noon bus transportation is provided for students within the Carroll Community School District.

KuemperCares Program for Preschool and Optional Kindergarten
Kuemper's childcare program KuemperCares offers half-day childcare that compliments the half-day preschool classes. This program alleviates parent's worries about finding transportation for their child in the middle of the school day, especially for families that live outside the school district!

If you are discerning where to send your child, please schedule a tour. You will not be disappointed! This can be arranged by contacting Susie Hulst at or 712-792-3313.

Back to School Timeline

August is an exciting time for preschoolers and parents! Here is some information that is helpful, especially for new families.

1-2 Weeks Before School Starts
Teachers will receive their class lists 1-2 weeks prior to the first day of school.

1 Week Before School Starts
Teachers will contact their class families to schedule a home visit. This is a chance for the teacher to visit the child in a familiar setting and get to know the student's family better. This is common practice for all preschool teachers in the state of Iowa.

Several Days Before School Starts
There will be a preschool open house several days prior to the first day of school. This is an opportunity for parents and students to visit their teacher and classroom and drop off their supplies. Preschool teachers will notify families of this date.
