Registration for 2020-2021 School Year

Preschool Interest Survey
CCSD released the "Preschool Interest Survey" for the 2020-2021 school year on December 13, 2019. Filling out this survey does not mean your child is official registered; however, it needs to be completed.  Click here to fill out the survey.

Submit Required Paperwork
Parents are asked to bring in their child's birth certificate, a copy of their child's immunization records, a copy of their most recent physical, and a completed Home Language Survey (forms also available at the school). This paperwork can be turned into Joan Halbur, elementary secretary. Please turn in as soon as possible. Forms can be emailed to Joan at or mailed into 201 S. Clark Street, Carroll, IA 51401,

Complete Online Registration - Yet to be Determined
Carroll Community School District (CCSD) will have parents complete online registration for preschool students attending both Kuemper and CCSD. The online registration process ensures that the preschooler's information is correctly submitted into the school's student information system. This is different from the "Preschool Interest Survey" that was published in December 2019. Parents who filled out the "Preschool Interest Survey" will be notified when the official online registration opens.

General Information

Students must be 4 years old on or before September 15, 2020.

Partnership with Carroll Community School District
Kuemper collaborates with Carroll Community School District (CCSD) for the state funded (tuition free) four-year-old preschool program. When registering for preschool, families have the option to choose Kuemper or CCSD for their child's preschool site.

Preschool is Monday through Friday throughout the school year and runs in half-day sessions. There are morning and afternoon sessions.
Morning Session: 8:00am-11:00am
Afternoon Session: 12:00pm-3:00pm

Morning and afternoon busing is provided on the Carroll Community and Kuemper bus routes. Noon bus transportation is provided for students within the Carroll Community School District.

KuemperCares Program for Preschool and Optional Kindergarten
Kuemper's childcare program KuemperCares offers half-day childcare that compliments the half-day preschool classes. This program alleviates parent's worries about finding transportation for their child in the middle of the school day, especially for families that live outside the school district!

If you are discerning where to send your child, please schedule a tour. You will not be disappointed! This can be arranged by contacting Susie Hulst at or 712-792-3313.

The Month of August

Online Registration for Those Riding CCSD Busses
Parents will have to register their preschooler for CCSD bussing online on the CCSD website prior to the school year. (There will be a link to CCSD's website on out website too). Parents will be notified when online registration opens.

Online Registration for Kuemper's North & West Route
Families must register their preschooler for Kuemper's North or West Route online. Parents will be notified when online registration opens. After registration is complete, families will receive a letter in the mail notifying them of the pick-up/drop-off times and locations. Families can expect this about one week before school starts.

Home Visits
Teachers will send letters to each family asking them to schedule a home visit. The home visit is a chance for the teacher to meet the child in a familiar setting and get to know the student's family better. This is common practice for preschool teachers in Iowa.

Preschool Open House
There will be a preschool open house several days prior to the first day of school. This is an opportunity for parents and students to visit their teacher and classroom and drop off school supplies. Preschool teachers will notify families of this date.

First Day of School
The first day of school for preschoolers is 1-2 days after the K-12th graders start. This exact date has yet to be determined.
